Livre Paris métro histoire et design
Authors:
Sybil CANAC
Bruno CABANIS
From its birth in 1900 to the present day, the Paris metro has mobilized the skills of the best architects and designers both underground and above ground. It has thus forged a remarkable identity with its provocative Art Nouveau Guimard entrances, sparkling earthenware vaults, marvelous ceramic decorations and many other innovative styles. Since its inception, the metro companies and then RATP have embraced the artistic trends and technical advances of the time to develop what seemed to be a promising transport for the future. For the first time, Paris Métro reveals the richness of this heritage and encourages the public to look at it with a different perspective.
